Prize in Photography Draws Attention to Urgent Global Environmental Issues

The major new global prize in photography has been awarded in Paris. The winner of the Prix Pictet award 2008 was the Canadian photographer Benoit Aquin. He presented a series of photos entitled The Chinese ‘Dust Bowl’. The series deals with the issue of the year – water.
The Prix Pictet is a prize in photography that has been held for the first time. It focuses on the subject of sustainability. Each year a different aspect will be chosen. All the aspects will be of a global importance.
As a permanent event the Prix Pictet draws public attention to the most important global issues and climate change. It is a start for seeking efficient solutions.
